I hung up the lights They’re blinking merrily It's got me thinking back To how things used to be I’m feeling kinda blue From remembering you And how I used to feel I would give you a call If I only knew how to Just to say happy holidays Happy holidays to you I went to a party They’re drinking merrily It's got me thinking back To how things used to be I’m feeling kinda blue From remembering you And how I used to feel I would give you a call If I only knew how to Just to say happy holidays Happy holidays to you

about

Two very different takes on the same holiday original, penned by Lovespirals vocalist, Anji Bee. While the lyrics are decidedly melancholy, the original 2010 recording adds an upbeat twist with its catchy disco house style, replete with wah wah guitar and disco strings. The 2012 version is classic Lovespirals dream pop with it's soaring ebo guitar and glacial tempo. Anji's vocal are, by turns, sensual and sublime, with a certain cheekiness to the house version and a mournfulness on the shoegazer version. There's more than one side to this complex duo, and this single is the perfect illustration of their musical and emotional duality.
