The first single from Lovespirals' 2007 album, 'Long Way From Home,' is a heart-rending ethereal blues cover of the anonymous American spiritual, “Motherless Child.” The band enlisted their musical friends Karmacoda, MoShang, Hungry Lucy, Chris Caulder of Beauty’s Confusion, and Drew Pluta to remix this album-title inspiring track. Additionally, Lovespirals band founder, Ryan Lum, couldn’t resist giving it go and so contributes his own remix. The result is a stunning mix of electronica styles ranging from light to dark, soothing to unsettling. Anji Bee’s earthy yet spiritual voice is the focus, with Lum’s otherworldly slide guitar adding an unexpectedly haunting old-time aspect.
